Summary

After Jesus speaks in Luke 4:22, the crowd marvels at His gracious words because they were so different from the burdensome ones they normally heard from the religious leaders. Today, we still hear misconstrued messages about the Bible, but when we take time to see God’s heart behind the Scriptures, we find it full of grace, blessings, and peace.

Wednesday night. But I do want to show you something that's just noteworthy, and it's sort of

part two from last week. Last week, we saw John the Baptist in his first sentence of his first

sermon, and it was fiery and prickly. Do you remember when John the Baptist started his service?

You're a bunch of vipers.

And he wasn't talking to the religious leaders.

Like Jesus, when Jesus was talking to the religious leaders

calling them vipers and whitewashed tombs, mouths were open sepulchers.

Like Jesus was hard on the religious guys.

But John was hard on everybody.

He was calling everybody snakes.

You're just a bunch of snakes. And we saw how John the Baptist message was that of repentance, but even that

didn't save. The baptism John had wasn't even a saving baptism because it was called a baptism to

repentance. But salvation doesn't come by just repentance. Salvation comes through Jesus Christ.
