Today's talk comes from Pastor Ben Stewart.

So years ago, many years ago now, I was a youth pastor right out of college.

And one of the things I love to do with my students is we would take them repelling.

And we would always go with one of those outfitters that had the

guides and had the gear and they would take us out to some mountain somewhere and

we'd spend the afternoon sending children off the side of cliffs. But before we

did they would always rally us and the guy that led the outfitters would give the speech

And he would sit all the kids down and he would let them know I've been repelling kids off the side of mountains

For 25 years.

Everyone on my staff has been trained by me.

We have never lost a man.

No one will die today on our watch.

And all the kids would say, I know, I know, because they had heard it before.

But undaunted, he would continue and start talking about the gear.

It's like this carabiner could hold up a Volkswagen.

It will not bend, snap, or break, regardless of what the movie Cliffhanger

starring Siles as well as Sloane suggests.

He says, this rope could hold all of us simultaneously.

It will not snap or fray.
