Summary

In the RunPod Run Club we know how good running makes us feel, but a bonus is feeling like we look good whilst we run. And this week joining Jenni on Runpod is a man who knows a thing or two about fashion. It’s fashion designer (and nifty runner), Henry Holland. Henry and Jenni chat being overly competitive with himself, using running as a form of meditation, marathon faux pas, the spectrum of fitness throughout the various lockdowns, and of course fashion. It turns out not even designers get it right when going for that first run. A hugely enjoyable listen, and you may get a bit of inspiration to jazz up your running gear too!

Hello there, welcome to another gathering of the Run Pod Run Club. I'm Jenny Faulkner here to help motivate you and hopefully keep you running for at least the duration of this episode. And today I'm joined by someone who is a nifty runner, but also as a designer, well perhaps he's the one who could give us a few tips on styling it out as you run along.

You know, it's important.

Today on RunPod, please welcome Henry Holland.

Hello there. How are you?

0:29.6

Hi, I'm good, thank you. How are you?

0:31.7

Yeah, I'm all right, thank you.

0:33.2

I said there that you're a nifty runner, and I say that because I have seen you on the start

0:37.5

line of a few races over the years and you've got some good times. Yeah. Yeah, I had, weirdly,

0:44.7

you know, it's not something that I sort of set out to be really, really quick at. And I guess

0:50.8

until I did my first marathon and then I had a sort of focus in terms of times, but it was

0:55.9

more just, you know, a pastime, a keep fit kind of, you know, mental break, I suppose.

1:02.9

But yeah, I just find I tend to find it just, I have a pace that it tends to be the same all

1:08.7

the time, really. So how many, how many races do you I mean is it

1:12.1

is it a marathon the first race that you did um I think as part of my training I did a few park runs

1:19.6

so I did some 5ks and some 10ks um as part of my training just to get my distance up um but I have this weird thing where I really like to know how far I've got left.

1:31.4

So even when I was doing marathon training, I would just do circuits of the same park.

1:35.6

So once you get up to kind of the 15, 16 mile training runs, I was just circling Regents Park.

1:42.5

And then the second one, I just circled Victoria Park.

1:45.5

I'm not one of those people that likes to kind of go out of run and look at the scenery.

1:49.5

I'm just like, I just want to do a circuit.

1:51.0

I want to know how long I've got left.

1:52.8

But I'm with you.
