Oh, this is so special to get to stand here right now. And when we talk about the priesthood of Jesus,

it is powerful to consider that right now, if you're a Christian, right now in heaven, Jesus

sits enthroned at the right hand of God. You are connected to him by the Holy Spirit.

And there is never a time in your life where he fails to intercede before God on your behalf.

That's the point I don't want you guys to miss about all this Melchizedek stuff in Hebrews,

is that we can get lost in the theology of it, or it's a name that's hard to pronounce,

or it's a story that I've never heard.

The powerful thing about what he's been saying is that you have a great high priest in heaven,

and his name is Jesus.

He's not a human being in an earthly tabernacle.

He's the son of God in glory in the heavenly presence of God interceding on your behalf. And what's going to happen today

is in light of what we've heard the last two weeks, you are going to see the very real and

precious promises that have been purchased for you by the fact that Jesus died, shed

his blood, rose from the dead, and now sits in glory in heaven. Today's sermon, if you need a

title, is called New Covenant equals better promises. New Covenant equals better promises.

And today we're going to talk about the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus has purchased for you

access into what he himself called the new covenant of his blood. You know, the night before Jesus

died and they're sitting there at the last supper and he uses those words. This is the new covenant. That doesn't

hit as deeply with us as it would to a Jewish audience because the word covenant is so heavy.

It's the word for God's agreement with his people. An agreement or contract is such a small

word. That's why every time I get the privilege of officiating a wedding, I'm like,
