This is CBS. Hi on the world. I'm John Batchel. I welcome my dear colleague Lorenzo Fiori,

who is my teacher about the wonderful world of Italy. We begin with weather, however, and that's going to take us to a new part of Italy. I didn't know existed Friuli. But the weather, the climate,

there is reason to believe the climate is changing every year. Lorenzo reminds me that Italy is

entirely surrounded by water on both sides of peninsula.

That might explain the heavy rainstorms that have been sweeping through the north, Milan, and Genoa,

where Lorenzo works and travels mostly.

The south of the peninsula, however, has been baking in a drought with temperatures of 39 centigrade.

That's 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more.

That's very hot.

Rome in the center has been having heat, followed by rain, followed by heat, followed by rain.

Right now, it can be tropical, and then again,

the supercells come in. Supercells have led to hail in some places, and we're going to go to
