The Summer I was 17 was 17 was beginning as a boring one.

As a teenager, I really was in was a Boring one.

As a teenager, I really wasn't active in finding things to do.

I lived in Denver, but my family had a cabin outside of Estes Park,

rural Colorado. The cabin was in a wooded area with the nearest people

being seven miles north. My mom must have been annoyed seeing her teenage son just lazily

hanging around the house. She encouraged me to drive out to her cabin. It was underused as is.

Before I left, my girlfriend texted that she wanted to come over to my house. I decided to invite her to the summer

home. Of course our parents weren't going to just let two teenagers go to a house and stay the

night, so she couldn't stay the night.

That was fine.

We're actually good kids.

We arrived to the cabin in separate vehicles.

The cars had to be parked a quarter mile up from the cabin. After just popping into the cabin for a moment we went

walking around in the woods nearby. As the afternoon started to fade we went back to the cabin to watch TV and such. By the time 6 p.m. world around I decided that

I was going to stay the night. My girlfriend was getting ready to leave. I told her, you

can leave whenever, but right now I'm going to go grab pillows from my truck

Getting to the cars was a bit of a walk I grabbed the pillows and started to walk back as I turned around I see my girlfriend walking up to me, looking absolutely distraught.

She left the cabin a minute after I left.

Apparently in that minute she heard a light scratch at the back door. Then she heard my voice say,
