I grew up in Puebla, Mexico.

When I was a young girl, my mother always asked me to get water from the river outside.

I didn't like it, but I listened to my mother. I always did it.

One night it was very dark outside. I begged my mother not to make me do it. But we had to prepare for a party and we were low on water. I begrudgingly went to get the water. As I was getting water I heard a woman crying.

I looked at my right. I saw the back of this woman holding her hands in front of her face sobbing I felt bad for her I put my bucket down and went up to her and asked

Senora?

Señora?

She stopped crying

turned around and moved one hand from her face.

She gestured with that hand to come towards her while the other was still covering her

face.

When I stepped forward, she moved her other hand when I saw it terrified me beyond belief.

She was completely pale, had yellow teeth, and her eyes had no pupils.

She screamed at me. I grabbed my bucket and ran home. I immediately went to bed and don't even remember the rest of the night. I was so scared. The next morning I woke up thinking it was a nightmare. I went to the kitchen.

My mother was the only other person in the house awake.

When she turned to say good morning to me, she saw how scared I looked.

I didn't even have to say anything. She bent down, gave me a hug, and whispered

in my ear. I saw her too. From then on, only my brothers got the water from outside.
