Hogwarts of History doesn't explain the sorting ceremony?

Well, we think we know why. Today we reveal the sorting hats big secret.

They're going to be sorted Harry understandably knows nothing but Ron freaking Ron whose entire existence in the first book basically seems to be explaining the magical world to Harry says some sort of test I think Fred says it hurts a lot but I think he was joking

Weasley family how does Ron not know about the sorting ceremony? He's the sixth son, an eighth member of this family, to go to this school. You're all in the same house. How has nobody discussed it like over dinner or something?

And Ron isn't the only one. Even Malfoy hints the idea that he doesn't know exactly how the ceremony works when he first meets Harry at Madame Malkin's robe shop. The scene isn't in the movie, but he asks Harry, know which house you'll be in yet. Obviously not, Malfoy, neither do you. Although he does say that he expects he'll be put in Slythering. Malfoy's father who tells him everything who's like one of the governors at Hogwarts

Hasn't mentioned this to him and wizarding families aside

Hermione doesn't even know just before the sorting Hermione starts reciting all of the spells that she's already learned in case she needs to perform them to be sorted

But literally on the walk up to the sorting ceremony she says It's not real the ceiling. It's just bewitched to look like the night's sky. I read about it in Hogwarts. A history. But you didn't read about the sorting hat? I'm sorry, but Hermione is way too thorough for it to be in there and for her to have overlooked it. This is one of the most famous magical artifacts ever.

It's literally the starting point for most of these witches and wizards like lives.

It dictates who you will be friends with, what types of things you will most likely go on to value, where you will live, and it's not in Hogwarts a history.

Or is it? Like I said before, Hermione is way too

thorough to have overlooked it. So how could it be in there and for her to have still missed it?

What if the knowledge of the sorting hat is protected by the Fidelius charm?

The Fidelius charm in case you need a refresher is the concealment of knowledge inside of another person or secret keeper and only that secret keeper is capable of transferring that knowledge to others. That information can only be handed over to others voluntarily and according to Pottermore cannot be tortured out of you. The charm is a cool idea, but it flirts with a lot of gray areas. Like the information can't be tortured out of you. Isn't that kind of the point of torturing is so that somebody does want to voluntarily give you that information?

Additionally, once the charm is in effect, only the secret keeper is capable of transferring

the information to other people, even if people previously knew the information. For example,

other people could have known the location of the Potter's house prior to it being protected
