Hey there, Jen here, and this is a happy bit. All right, you hear from my voice that I'm not my

0:07.6

usual chipper-ish self. And I'm coming on here just to be authentic. And I especially want to

0:14.0

speak to those who are struggling with a child or who are grieving. Or if you have children,

0:20.6

maybe you're going to struggle with a child

0:21.9

someday or maybe you're going to grieve someday. So really, this might apply to everyone. Yes, I have

0:28.1

been crying. And I thought, I just love all of my vibrant, happy women friends. And I wanted to

0:34.5

just pretend we're together and I'm sharing a struggle. And I hope it's

0:38.4

going to help someone listening. I know it will because too few of us share how we feel and how we're

But I just want to say when my oldest was born, we were in grad school, both my husband and I, and lived in university housing at Iowa State University. My husband was in a program for plant

1:30.7

breeding. I was in a program for human development family studies. And we had friends right

1:36.1

across the street who had a little baby girl at about the same time. And then other friends,

1:41.9

two blocks away, who had a little baby girl, 10 days after Azale was born.

1:46.8

And those three played together all the time.

1:51.1

When one of us had to be on campus, another one would watch them.

1:55.0

And so it went for two and a half years until we all finished our programs.

1:59.1

And we were all leaving in about the same time.

2:01.8

Well, those two little girls just graduated this year, and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

2:07.5

And there came the grief. And I want to speak to those of you who are grieving.

2:12.8

I've never really grieved anything like I have grieved this with my two boys.
