About this Happy Bit:

Many of us believe in Right and Wrong and Truth (each with a capital letter). But often these social constructs and status quo norms can block us from receiving the deepest levels of light and happiness on a personal basis. In this Happy Bit I’ll teach you the art of questioning everything and getting out of the boxes that leave you feeling stuck so you can be the most vibrant and happy version of yourself.

Hey there, Jen here, and this is a happy bit. I want to talk in this happy bit about living out of the

0:06.2

box. Now, some of you listening do this naturally. I think of my best friend Kit. She is happy to push

0:13.0

the status quo, to push the limits, to do what she feels like doing. Case in point, she recently

0:18.3

bought a pair of really super cool, super colorful shoes, and they're called

0:23.2

her map shoes. The shoes literally have world maps on them. The whole service of the shoe is a map.

0:29.9

They're colorful, they're unique. That is my best friend kit. If that's you, you're really lucky because

0:35.1

that means you're probably more in touch with your intuition

0:38.1

from the get-go rather than being guided by social norms and the shoulds that surround us.

For those of us who have to practice a little bit harder to think out of the box,

That is not true for every individual in those cultures, but you understand what I'm saying.

1:09.8

Well, I had to learn to

1:12.3

question the status quo. And I want to ask you a few questions and just see what thoughts might come

1:18.4

up for you as I ask these. So let's start with some of the things you might have gained from

1:23.4

your parents, things you hold to be true because of the family or the community or the culture

1:28.8

in which you were raised. Your first question might be, what are my beliefs and are they true?

1:35.0

I'm going to add that phrase and are they true to every line here. Next one, what are my values?

1:41.3

And are those really the most important values? Are those truly the most important ones?

1:46.0

What are my political beliefs? And is it actually what I truly believe now? How about health?

1:51.9

What do I believe about health and the rules and conventions of health? What about religion?

1:57.4

What are my religious beliefs? My spiritual beliefs? And are they true? For me now, marriage, love,
