Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today that a recent air strike killed

Mohammed Sinwar, Hamas's elusive de facto leader in Gaza.

He's the brother of former Hamas chief Yaya Sinwar, who Israel considers to be the mastermind

behind the October 7th attacks. He was killed by the Israeli military in southern Gaza last year.

CNN's Paula Hancock says more details.

Now, it was two weeks ago that the attack took place, the IDF targeting a massive set of strikes

against the European hospital in Canunas, and this is where he was believed to have

been killed. There were also at least two dozen Palestinians killed in that particular strike,

and about 50 injured. Netanyahu made the announcement during a speech to the Israeli parliament.
