Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Wednesday, May 28th.

Israeli protesters are once again calling on the government to end the war in Gaza and bring

hostages home, as they mark 600 days since Hamas kidnapped them.

Keith Siegel has been free for nearly four months, but he told CNN he still feels haunted by

the trauma of his captivity, and he fears for the hostages still in Gaza.

He's not just talking about the physical and psychological abuse his captors put him through,

or the suffocating conditions and malnutrition he faced in tunnels deep underground.

Siegel says he's also terrified

that Israel's intensifying bombardment and ground offensive will kill the remaining living

hostages or drive Hamas to execute them.

I think this can be avoided by getting all of the hostages back.

That's the solution to get them back, to reach an agreement that will bring them back.

He's one of dozens of former captives and relatives urging the Israeli government to make a deal with Hamas.

The Israeli military has promised to take precautions to avoid harming hostages.
