Hello, today's story comes from Beth.

She emailed to say, Dear Danny, my ghost story happened at an actual stately home, Marble Hill House in Richmond.

My uncle was a custodian for English heritage at the time and we travelled down to stay with him.

My family shared one bedroom. The first night we all went to bed at the same time.

I woke to hear the sounds of a party starting in the lounge area along the hallway.

There was the sound of a gramophone playing old-fashioned music,

raised voices and glasses clinking. And then the footsteps started. Heavy footsteps on wooden floorboards outside the door in the corridor walking up and down,

even though the hallway was carpeted.

The next day at breakfast my mum asked my uncle why he'd left a TV on so loud.

My uncle was confused and said he'd gone to bed at the same time as us.

My mom described the phenomena she had also heard, the party and the footsteps on the wooden floor. My uncle said he had

heard of the place being haunted, but my dad called it nonsense saying he hadn't heard a thing and the

conversation was changed. But a matter of years later we were talking about our ghost story.

When my dad confessed that he had heard everything, all of the details exactly as my mom and I had experienced.

He was a very sensible police detective and I think he just didn't want to stir up a

frenzy over something he didn't really believe in.
