Sam has emailed me today's uncanny encounter,

which happened on a family holiday in Florida. He says,

Dear Danny, my brother Dan and I were sharing a bedroom.

At the time, Dan had bouts of mild O. C. D.

This demonstrated itself in having to flick the light switch on and off or rapidly

tapping on surfaces. One night I remember being woken up by a tapping noise.

My immediate response was to say Dan, stop it. He replied saying, I'm not doing anything.

I have never had a stronger feeling than in that moment with my internal voice telling me not to open my eyes. I kept them closed until the noise stopped.

The rest of the holiday was fine, we packed up, but as we drove away, my dad said that he hadn't wanted to say anything and ruined the holiday,

but he felt that house was haunted.

From my parents bedroom, you could see directly down the hall to our bedroom, and my dad said that

on Wednesday night, he woke up and

saw a man at the top of the stairs looking into our room. He was dressed in overalls

and was tapping on the door for him. The man then started walking down the hallway. My dad got up and

followed him, but when he got to the bathroom, nobody was in there. That night sticks

with me. Nearly 25 years later. I cannot describe the strength of feeling

I had when that internal voice told me not to open my eyes. And I've never had that stronger
