Summary

Climate change is real. I'm not being flippant, but with some people questioning whether global warming is actually something we need to worry about it's time to look at some hard facts. Millions of tonnes of plastic end up in the ocean each year, plastic bags take upwards of 1000 years to degrade and knowing what can and can't be recycled isn't an easy as it maybe should be.

In this ninth #26habits I'm looking at the small, sustainable changes I can make to the products and services I consume and the way I recycle that will stop me contributing to the problem. Just a small about of internet research and I found that things I thought could be recycled can't and vice versa. It's time to educate myself as much as it's time to make changes.

Tune into the show to find out what steps I'll be taking over these next two weeks to break the habit of unwillingly contributing to climate change.

about sustainability. Now this is something that I've really wanted to tackle on 26 habits,

1:22.3

but every time, and I'm sure many of you may feel the same way,

1:27.4

every time I begin to unpick this topic, I need to go and sit down somewhere very quiet because when I start to go down that Google

1:37.3

rabbit hole of climate change and I start to put it that thread of the inconvenient truth, it becomes evident that this

1:48.5

problem is huge and it seems almost silly to say, well I shall stop using carrier bags because it really does feel like trying to put a plaster over the Hoover Dam but every little helps and actually in preparing for habit number nine I've been speaking to many people who have made changes significant changes in their lives to their consumption habits in order to have a small effect on this problem and

2:17.8

every single person says it's about making small changes it It's about baby steps. They have a cumulative significance

So rather than trying to do something overnight and live without electricity from henceforth

Which obviously I think we'd all find rather difficult. It's about doing the little things
