This is Friends of History Debating Society. I'm John Bachelor. Michael Yahn, my colleague is in Guatemala City.

You will recall that Guatemala City visited by the Vice President early in the Biden administration, is part of the Northern Triangle of states and

Central America, said by the Biden administration to be the source of the migration surge toward the southern border. That was in 2021. It may

still be Guatemala has gone through a recent election which is still

contested. The losers are complaining that the winner was

advanced by a party that was illegitimate. That's tied up in charge and counter charge. Michael's there, however, to observe one of the

countries that is said to be a source of migrants and at the same time one of the

countries that is ready for development, ready for prosperity.

Michael can also help us understand what's going on in Panama where there's big trouble

for the government having to do with the mining contracts, having to do with drought, having

to do with the

in in in the Panama Canal ships coming through that's a major source of income

and also having to do with the tens of thousands

now crossing the Darien gap to come through Panama.
