What's up everyone? Welcome back to this show. I am excited to have you here and we're going to talk about something disgusting today or at least disgusting to me and that is the thr, the deadly and annoying Thrip.

These are probably the grossest looking garden pests that I've personally seen.

I just really hate the look of them.

I don't know about you guys.

So Thripps are a super frustrating gardening pest to deal with and let's talk about it.

Let's how do we get rid of these guys? So Thripps first of all what do they look like?

They are long,

slender insects. They're often about a quarter inch long in their adult form, so they're not

small. We're not talking about an a fit here. They are most often yellow, black, or brown and the

larval stages tend to be yellow or green. The formal order of these insects is called

thysenoptera. Now some of these varieties are

going to have fringed wings. They aren't really a flying and they will fly but

they're not very strong at that. They mostly just

crawl around. Now there are over 4,500 species of thrips so obviously we

can't cover those, but we can talk about the life cycle. And so as with most pests, if you can

disrupt the life cycle at some various stage, then you can start to

disrupt that pest infestation itself.

One thing that's interesting about thrips,

though, is that they are capable of producing eggs

asexually if they don't have a mate.

So unlike most caterpillar species, they will eat or rasp out a hollow in plant matter and then they'll lay their eggs.

So eggs are shielded because of that.
