What's going on everyone? Welcome back to the Epic Gardening podcast. Today we're going to talk about

0:05.9

sweet potatoes and specifically how do you grow sweet potato slips. Now slips are an interesting term because oftentimes we talk

0:15.5

about growing something from seed, right? Or maybe propagating by division or by

0:19.9

cuttings. Well, sweet potatoes are a bit different. They are not started by seed like most

0:25.3

other vegetables. They are started from something called a slip. Slips are shoots that are

1:13.9

sweet potato so the first thing you want to do wash your sweet potato then cut it in

1:19.4

half or in large sections and then place each section in a jar or glass of water.

1:25.7

And so one thing that a lot of people will do here is they will cut a sweet potato in half,

1:31.2

get toothpicks and stab them into the sides so that will suspend half

1:35.7

of the sweet potato in the water and half of the sweet potato above the water and they'll

1:39.7

use something like a mason jar to grow it in. So that is a wonderful way to do it.

1:44.8

And so what you'll need to do after that
