Summary

Gregory Copley reports that Chinese leader Xi Jinping's power has diminished, noting he is expected to step down as General Secretary at the upcoming fourth plenum, retaining only the powerless PRC presidency. Copley suggests the new leadership may reduce global aggression because the country lacks money, resources, and solidarity for a global campaign, and faces massive domestic food and water crises. He also addresses Tony Blair's "surreal politic" role in the Gaza plan and the fragility of the clerical leadership in Iran.

This is CBS. I'm the World. I'm John Batchel. Realpolitik, a word I learned in the 20th century,

and here we are the 21st. Gregory Copley, editor and publisher of defense and foreign affairs,

writing about Realo Peak right now, moving. And I go to an example, it appears, lost the plot, goes the headline

in the Financial Times, the pink paper out of London. Tony Blair's Gaza role prompts incredulity

and some hope. Some in former UK Prime Minister of Labor parties react with surprise at his

proposed role in Palestinian territory.

0:39.9

What role? The President of the United States has asked Mr. Blair to represent everyone's

and re-awakening of the Gaza Strip following the cessation of violence in the Gaza Strip.

And Tony Blair is a seasoned European politician who has had some years now, I understand, in the Middle East,

representing interests, both commercial and public interests in the Middle East.

So the question here is realpolitik in action. Is this an example? You renovate a man from the 20th century who was successful as labor leader, but who has not been much in the

1:29.3

news, at least in London, ever since, the Labor Party now struggles with completely new

1:35.2

quandaries with its overwhelming majority, and I don't remember them celebrating Mr. Blair.

1:41.0

Gregory, is Tony Blair Realpolitik? Does that make sense? Good evening to you.

1:46.5

Good evening, John. No, I don't think it does. I think Tony Blair epitomizes what I call

1:52.2

surreal politic in which they, or pseudo-realpolitik. He thinks he is the lean, hard practitioner of Realpolitik,

2:03.0

which is supposedly the cool and dispassionate assessment and management

2:10.9

of strategic situations and geopolitical situations.

2:14.6

And certainly, Tony Blair was not an exemplar of that. He did portray himself as a

2:20.9

pragmatist, but in fact, you know, he's still, if you like, dodging war crimes allegations,

2:27.1

which were quite valid, actually. The fact that he broke a lot of international and national
