We're joined momentarily by my co-host, Matt Fortuna, and today's special guest from ABC, ESPN, Greg McElroy.

Did analysis for Notre Dame season Oprah at Florida State. We talked a lot about that.

If Notre Dame is maybe a little different than any of us had thought to date, some big picture talk with Brian Kelly and being a former Alabama quarterback, we got into a little bit of a comparison game with Notre Dame and Alabama and how close that gap is or is not.

So I think you'll enjoy that conversation.

Pleased to be joined by a special guest here on the Shamrock this week, Matt Fortuna with me as always, but we have Greg McElroy, analyst for ESPN, ABC, called Notre Dame Florida

State, and is sort of very well versed in the Irish, even through the nitty gritty of Toledo last

weekend. And Greg, I first, thanks for doing this. And I am just sort of interested in terms of how your view of Notre Dame may be changed

from seeing them live in Tallahassee to sort of scouting them a little bit on tape post-Tolito.

Well, I think if I'm going to sum up the first eight quarters of football, I would say that Notre Dame is their own worst enemy.

I think that that's kind of a fair assessment because if you look at both games, the only reason why either game was competitive was almost entirely due to Notre Dame's missteps and or mistakes.

Starting, let's start with the Florida State game. When Marcus Freeman decides to go to a slightly

more conservative three-down line, eight droppers, and Florida State had not been effective

whatsoever on the underneath passing attack,

I guess I kind of sitting there thinking, well, why are you giving them a look defensively

that they can run the ball against? And sure enough, what did Florida State start doing? I even

called out the broadcast. Like, man, they need to put forward even the blindment on the field.
