Andrew McCarthy of the National Review Online writing most recently about what we can

make of the few results we have of the Iowa and New Hampshire race. One was a

caucus, one was a vote. That is that come to you because my understanding of

the Republican Party is that there's not enough

Republicanism in the country to elect a president. The Republicans to elect a

president need independence, they need disaffected Democrats, they need

disaffected Republicans depending on the election cycle. Is that still true for

this 2024 race since everybody knows who President Biden is, everybody knows

who President Trump is. Does the party still need a coalition of what you could presume

were not natural Republican voters. Thank you.

Well, both parties need independence, Sean. It's always been that way, especially

the size of the parties continues to shrink historically speaking.

So when you look at it now you obviously need independence.

When you look at the primaries, it seems Mr. Trump has probably about 60% of the Republican base supporting him.

Nicky Haley has obviously less, I would argue less than 40%, but she makes up for

with the very independence that you need to win.

We saw that in New Hampshire.
