who is in Port St. Lucy on what's already been a, you know,

fairly busy day. You got Jed Lowry's banged up, Mickey Calloway, already met with the media.

Andy, though, big news, obviously yesterday, into today, Mani Machado signing with the Padres.

Your assignment part of it yesterday for the network was to kind of talk about how that affects

the Mets and potentially down the line, obviously, the Phillies. What was your reaction?

And how important do you think Manny Machado's decision was for the Mets moving forward?

I think it was great news for the Mets. I think that better news for the Mets would have been them

signing Manny Machado. But given that that wasn't happening,

like, keeping him out of the division is more important than keeping Harper out of the division.

He's better.

The Mets people have been hoping that Metsado did not go to Philly.

We're happy when he didn't.

And now they don't have to deal with him much.

I think that's significant

with what Phillies trying to do and that they lost out on him and the fact that this amazing two-way

player, platinum glove third baseman, top five offensive player, is not on the Phillies. It's a nice

little day for the mess. So you've also reported, though, that the Phillies, obviously now you'd think they'd

attempt to do whatever they could bring in Bryce Harper.

You've reported that the Phillies may have an uphill climb in terms of bringing Harper in now.
