0:00.0	Good evening. This show begins tonight in Mexico, Mexico City, where my colleague Evan Ellis has traveled for the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute. Mexico in the news because of the tariffs announced within these last hours by the President of the United States, 25% on products from Mexico.
0:23.9	There are adjustments through the day, and right now there's a pause in the 25% on
0:31.1	automobiles or automobile parts from Mexico. In any event, this is a very heavy burden for the Mexican economy. The Reuters
0:41.8	estimates, if followed through on it, would cost 4% of the GDP. In addition to that, it would be,
0:49.6	we would be looking at huge amounts of unemployment. However, at the same time, there's always an offset.
0:56.2	The new President Claudé Shanbaum now enjoys, according to Reuters, an 85% approval rating,
1:02.4	which is very high for a democracy.
1:06.2	We move to commenting on the aggression of the Chinese to purchase and fund and loan money on
1:16.8	and otherwise show up at the Panama Canal.
1:20.6	And there's now an offset.
1:23.1	The offset is that BlackRock, the famous and very well-to-do equity firm headed by Larry Fink,
1:30.7	has agreed to buy Hutchinson, the company that owns two ports, one on either side of the
1:38.5	Panama Canal, and perhaps other entities and other ports around the world.
1:50.5	So the problem solves of the ports closing down the canal.
1:51.9	There's more to it, of course.
1:54.7	Panama's doing what it can.
1:56.6	It's been visited by the Secretary of State.
1:58.9	It's been warned by the President of the United States.
2:03.1	Black Rock owns it.
2:08.8	Venezuela, picking on bullying Guyana for that oil offshore.
2:15.0	A Venezuela patrol craft entered Guyana waters without permission.
2:17.5	It's a bad time.
