Chapter 3, verse 1 through 3, notice one day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law,

Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the

mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush.

And Moses stared at amazement.

And though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn't burn up.

This is amazing, Moses said to himself.

Why isn't that bush burning up?

I must go see it. And I'm speaking today from the subject, God's magnet. God's magnet. You may be seated. It's amazing here how God

set a bush on fire just to get Moses' attention.

What is it that God may be setting on fire in your life to get your attention?

Now notice that the fire didn't burn the bush up.

God will set something on fire in your life not to destroy you,

but sometimes just to turn your attention to something that he really wants to direct your life

toward. Fire is a riveting kind of a thing. You can sit by a fireplace and watch the flames and something is sort of mesmerizing about fire because it appeals to a very primal nature in us as human beings because fire was one of the very first discoveries of humanity.

It is interesting, I think, that God used fire here to get Moses' attention

because fire is both beautiful and dangerous.

It is both orderly and wild. fire is both comforting but yet unpredictable all at the same time.

And many of these qualities actually speak of the very nature of God himself,

so please don't think that you have got God figured out because he'll come and hit you on the blind side.

He has a way of using that which can mesmerize us, that will draw us into it his presence

just to get our attention.

And so it's interesting that whenever there's a fire that oftentimes we are pulled in by the motion, we are pulled in by the color, we are pulled in by the contrast of all that fire is able to produce for us.
