Now, when someone deliberately hurts me, I find it hard to forgive them.

Instead, I will carry on pretend arguments

with the offending person in my head, all of which I win with my incredible, albeit delayed,

wit and wisdom. And I don't think I'm alone in this. Our difficulty forgiving is why it can be

hard to believe how willing the Lord is to forgive. Speaking about the Israelites and their eventual

scattering, the scriptures say, and it shall come to pass when thou shalt return unto the Lord thy God,

and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day. Then the Lord thy God

will have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations. These verses don't

say, once you repent, I'll make you wait a while because you really deserve it. No, they say

God will be waiting for them when the Israelites are ready to return. God loves to forgive us. He

loves to have compassion on us. We just have to honestly and willingly ask him for that

compassion and forgiveness. So the takeaway of the day in five words or less is, God loves to forgive you.
