Welcome to One Minute Scripter Study, a Come Follow Me podcast.

We are your host, Kristen Walker-Smith and Callie Black.

Hey, it's Callie Black here with Today's Thought. Let's open up to Deuteronomy Chapter 6, verse 5.

0:15.0

There's a pattern that I've noticed that comes with gospel living. God loves us so much.

0:24.1

He wants us to become more like him and his son,

0:31.3

but that can seem a little vague and overwhelming. So he then gives us guiding commandments that help keep us on the right path of truth. Now most of us start our gospel journey because we realize how much we love God. So then we

0:40.1

start keeping the commandments to ensure that our love is drawing us closer and closer to the divine.

0:47.5

And then sometimes we get stuck here. Just keeping the commandments, ticking those boxes, falling off the track and trying to

0:56.9

keep the commandments again. And we slowly start to lose sight of the why. Why are we keeping the commandments

1:04.6

in the first place? In Deuteronomy chapter 6, verse 5, we learn this powerful truth.

1:19.8

Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and with all thy might. He wants our heart, our soul, and our might, but only if we are ready to give them to him willingly.

1:29.9

Commandments are amazing and necessary, and doing our best to keep them is essential in molding our

1:35.6

character. But we need to keep the why in mind. God really wants my heart. And when I keep his

1:42.7

commandments, with all my love for him, I am on the right

1:48.2

track. So the takeaway of the day, in five words or less, God really wants my heart. Thank you so

1:57.1

much for being here today and for coming closer to Christ with me, one minute at a time.

2:09.6
