| 0:20.2 | Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. |
| 0:23.0 | Let's call to mind all those that we've promised to pray for, |
| 0:26.0 | especially for Terry Punzwick, |
| 0:29.0 | and for the healing of Olivia Caneli. |
| 0:37.0 | We were made for joy. |
| 0:39.2 | In fact, God designed us for joy. Joy is the response to something experienced as good and it |
| 0:49.3 | invites us to rest or delight in that good. You know with the first taste of hot black coffee in a warm |
| 0:59.0 | mug on a cold morning I experience joy. I take delight in its goodness, and then I rest or savor it. |
| 1:09.9 | We are made to have real joy and pleasure. |
| 1:13.5 | Now for this meditation, joy and pleasure, |
| 1:17.5 | it means the same thing. |
| 1:19.3 | And God is so good that he designed us |
| 1:22.3 | to have pleasure as a result or as a byproduct of doing |
| 1:27.0 | good things. So when we finish a job well done we have joy satisfaction pleasure |
| 1:35.4 | we have when we have good conversation with a friend we experience |
| 1:40.8 | satisfaction or sitting on a beach and watching the sunset while the tide |
| 1:46.7 | rolls in gives us joy. So joy is meant or pleasure is meant to be the fruit, the byproduct of doing something good. |
| 2:00.0 | But in our fallen state with our wounded human nature, we take this great setup by God that we do good and pleasure should come from it. |
| 2:10.5 | And we distort it, we pervert it and we seek pleasure but we seek |
| 2:15.8 | it divorced from the good thing. You know take pizza for example I love pizza. |
