I have wanted to do this episode for a long time because we've been talking about Marilyn Monroe

a lot over on Patreon. We did an episode

all about the Kennedy curse. And of course, I think Marilyn Monroe is a victim because she was

adjacent to the Kennedys and everything that befell her. But one of the really interesting things

about Marilyn Monroe is that over the years, as everybody talks about her beauty and her star power,

they also talk about how she had the ability to turn that star power on and off, like a light switch.

This is the anecdote that is the most famous. It's shared by Amy Green, who was the wife of Marilyn

Monroe's personal photographer, Milton Green. And Amy told a story about a day when her and Marilyn Monroe's personal photographer Milton Green.

And despite Marilyn's fame, nobody seemed to recognize her.

She said, quote, I'll never forget the day Marilyn and I were walking around New York City,

just having a stroll on a nice day.

they did in Hollywood. And she could put on her plain Jane clothes and no one would notice her.

She loved that. So as we're walking down Broadway, she turns to me and says, do you want to see me
