Summary

A crash in the opening few kilometres of this stage heading towards Slovenia, meant that Giro d'Italia stage 15 got off to a rough start. The commissaires neutralised the stage in order for the injured riders to receive medical support and then a large breakaway went once again, with Peter Sagan and Bora-Hansgrohe seemingly ambivalent to the opportunity of a stage win. Benji and LR also recap the final two stages of Vuelta a Burgos Feminas, which included the legendary Lagunas de Neila climb for the final stage.

Welcome back to Lantern Roo cycling podcast supported by LeCold here with my co-host Ben

0:04.8

Jinnison for the Zürer Italian stage 15 recap. We will also have at the end of this podcast

0:10.4

a Welter of Burgos stages three and four recaps you've listening on podcast players on YouTube

0:15.2

that will be a separate video. Today's stage is the stage that goes into Slovenia. I thought

0:22.2

one forced again. The man we picked yesterday from Grado to Glotticia 146k's that it was

0:28.2

circuit with a but a nasty climb 1.7k's 8.1% and then there's the last climb the last of those

0:35.7

circuit climbs finishes about 17k's to go then they've got a little 600 meter roller at 8.1%.

0:42.0

The circuit climb actually has some like 14% pinches in it a really steep 400 600 meter section

0:49.2

but we called Sagan Benji we're in the Slovenia Ciclimino right now but before the stage he said

0:55.2

they weren't interested really they're just going to go for the Ciclimino points it's all a man

0:59.4

in this morning so a bit of a blow for the race both of those news coming out and then there was

1:04.5

further blows when the stage initially kicked off. Yes we had uh well the first of them sort of

1:11.7

rank when the first 500 meters after the race starting off officially and we had a crash in the

1:17.3

peloton like directly the race was on boom it blow down was a pretty uh a pretty severe crash but

1:23.4

you gotta keep in mind they started at a spot where in the first kilometer they go on to this

1:29.2

long bridge or long like road with water around it so the only way to get to that point is from

1:35.5

the start of that uh road and from the end of that road so probably not the easiest place to get

1:42.3

access to and because of the crash it decided to uh to neutralize the race and that means that the

1:49.3

people that had had roughly 10 meters trying to get away from the peloton were angry at the

1:54.0

commissar for neutralizing the race but I was considering well perhaps there's a good reason to

2:00.0

this likely there's a good reason to this because only 500 meters in it's not the worst thing in the

2:04.8

world if we neutralize the race here personally and eventually the reasons behind it are honestly

...
