15-year-old Rachel Barber left for dance class in Melbourne and never came back home.

When police traced her final phone calls, they led straight back to someone who had not only planned

to take her, but had written about it in detail in their diary entries.

Our case today takes place in Montalbert, Melbourne, Australia.

Mike and Elizabeth Barber were a married couple living in this really nice area.

It's quiet, it's pretty classic, settle down and have a family.

And that's exactly what they did.

They had three children, all girls, they had Rachel, Heather and Ashley Rose. Home videos show the family

laughing, messing about having a good time. It shows Christmases and birthdays, summer nights

spend all together in the garden. It's just a really nice insight into the kind of

childhood that these three girls had. Elizabeth Barber, who is the mother,

she really gets to know people in the community on the street and it really is the kind of place

where neighbours talk to each other. This is also back in the sort of late 80s, early 90s and so

there, yeah, people really like to get to know each other and it's very normal

for her to have a coffee with her neighbours or run into them on the street and have a bit of a

conversation one of these days she is chatting to her neighbour gail now her and gail have quite a lot

in common gail has a daughter of her own and she's only a few years older than Elizabeth's eldest daughter, Rachel.

So at this point, Rachel's around 10 years old, and Gail starts talking about her daughter, Caroline, saying that she's a little bit worried about her.
