Dude, I just had like one of my favorite jackets just totally explode. You test a lot of the gear for the North Face. Does it hold up?

Yeah. I mean, the thing about testing products is that they don't all hold up. I mean, sometimes zippers break, sometimes pull tabs rip off, sometimes things happen. I mean, that's the whole point of prototyping is that you're using a sample. And so occasionally good ideas don't work out. For any product, there's always a tradeoff between ultra-light and ultra-durable. And so, you know, if you're getting the lightest, thinnest down jacket and then trying to climb it off with, you're going to shred your jacket. You know, it's like you just have to have the right tool for the the right job. Do you do anything different? Like when you're actually working with the

prototypes in the North Face, do you intentionally like crawl into a heinous off with and see what

happens? Not so much intentionally. I mean, I never try to destroy my things because, you know,

I like my jackets. I like my gear. I will say I've

intentionally put them into some challenging situations, particularly the waterproofing and some of

the layers like that where I'm like, oh, this is supposed to be the new waterproof layers. Let's go out

on a winter storm advisory day and see if I can climb this mountain. In that particular case,

I got completely destroyed, but I was like soaked all the way to the bone

but that wasn't by any fault of the layers

it was just it turned out the storm was way gnarlier than I thought

and I fell down in the snow like a million times

and it turned into kind of a survival experience

So I think that it comes from having a goal, being really passionate about a goal, and not being afraid to go for it, and then kind of just controlling what you can control.

Like, I can't control what other people say about it. I can't control what other people feel about it, but I can control how I feel about it and what I learn from it.
