And it was just like a really quick little interchange

between two people that to me was at the heart of all the development work

that we do based on our identity and other people's identity and trying to sort of suss all of this out.

And it was basically two different quotes from personal development masters.

Well the second one I don't know if you'd call her a personal development master

but she's definitely somebody who has a lot of insight and it was these two different quotes that were

brought up that almost appear as if they are in direct conflict with each

other. The first quote was from Rumi who very famous, like it's one of his most

famous quotes which is that if you are irritated by every rub how will your mirror be

polished and this is something that I've put in blog posts

and I think we've mentioned in other podcasts.

And so it's a quote that's really kind of struck me

And the insinuation is that when we rub up against other people and they reflect back to us our behavior and we get irritated by that, then we aren't necessarily allowing them to be the mirror that they could be so that
