freshly retired after a long career at WBAL,

He's finally the Hayas in the Barn for your career at WBAL L as a sports broadcaster. And Jerry, thrilled to sit down with you, just an amazing career. And what's it like to hear the Hayes in the Barn for your career? Yeah, it's one of those phrases that kind of took on a life of its own. And so many people now have said it back to me, especially the last couple of

weeks, I can't go anywhere where people don't look at me.

They don't even say, hey, Jerry. How are they? They meet it. Hey, he's in the barn. I'm like, yeah, yes, the hay's in the barn. Yes, yes, it is. So you're saying that wasn't original. My open here. I'm just crushed now.

He was really excited.

I got the opener.

He's like,

I got this one. They landed the plane. You did you have a great job. I appreciate it. It's a, from you. I appreciate that. It's really been a cool thing just to see how much, you know, it meant to people and, and how like I became so connected with that line that. Yep. You know, the story behind the line was it was the line my college football coach used.

you know I was a third string tight end on a division two team this was not the fast track the

football success and yet that one line became the thing that my career is probably most

identified with that's so funny that's awesome well I echoes Ryan sentiment sentiment off the top, just an incredible career. And it's been a joy to work with you. And also to just watch and admire the work that you do. So as you made this decision, walk us through it. Like, what was it that ultimately made you feel like now is the time that you want to call it a career so it was it was last

september and my daughter katie gave birth to twins on september 19th and i think we were in the third

week of the season and as excited as i was become a grandfather my wife was out in san diego and my son

was out in san die and and i wasn't and so like I couldn't

be there for the birth of my grandkids and then I couldn't go see them for another month until we
