Friends, I have to say populists like Donald Trump.

Friends, I have to say that I'm particularly disheartened at the moment

about the extent of polarization in the country and the way in which it is making smart people unwilling to stand up for basic principles.

We saw some of this at the time of the most acute crisis in Venezuela,

where the attacks on Venezuela by some of the least savory people in the Trump administration

made a lot of people on the left unwilling to criticize the horrendous Maduro regime.

We saw it a few days ago after the attacks

by members of Antifa on Andy Ngo.

Ngo is a journalist who chronicles

a lot of Antifa violence in Portland and has also written some articles with which I strongly disagree.

For example about supposed no-go zones in various European cities. But whatever you think about Ingo's work, what happened in Portland was unequivocal.

He was there to film the protests, to report on them, and he was assaulted, punched,

intimidated by members of Antifa. Nevertheless, very well-known people on Twitter defended those actions.

The New York Times wrote a report which completely seemed to erase the difference between the

violent actions by Antifa and in those determination to cover them. This is a complete disaster.

If we are not willing to admit that there are some people who in some broad sense, and I'm not sure that that's even particularly true of Antifa, on our sides, who can do wrong,
