Father Stephen holds a Ph.D. in biblical studies. And it's an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Firstly, God, Louisiana. Verse 16.

Now, the virgin was very beautiful to behold,

and she was a virgin for no man had known her.

She went down to the well, filled her pitcher, and came up.

So she's not married, not attached to anybody.

Then the servant ran to meet her and said, let me drink a little water from your pitcher.

So she said, drink, my lord.

Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand and gave him a drink.

When she finished giving him a drink,

she said, I will also draw water for your camels until they finish drinking. So notice, she actually

goes a little further even than what he said. Not just, oh, I'll give some water to your camels also,

but I will go and draw more water out of the well

until your camels decide they're done drinking, which could be a while, right?

So she sort of goes the extra mile with this hospitality beyond even the sign that he asked for.

Thus she quickly emptied her pitcher into the trough, ran back to the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.

And the man, wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not.

It's a great translation.

Right.

So the idea is he's kind of like, well, that was fast, right?

Like he's sort of marveling at the fact that he's, you know, God has already, like, indicated the right person to him.
