And when we get started, we will be picking up at the beginning of Genesis chapter 24.

So by way of just real brief catch-up,

because we left off at sort of a hinge point in the story here.

We are not completely done with Abraham's story.

We haven't read about the death of Abraham yet. We may or may not get to that this evening. I will make no prediction. But we read about the death of Sarah. We read about Abraham getting the tomb for her.

This was after we read sort of the culmination of Abraham's story,

which was the offering of Isaac on Mount Mariah.

And then we read about the end of Sarah's life.

And we ended there because it was very hot.

And also because now we're really going to, tonight in chapter 24,

I was going to say we're going to begin the story of Isaac, but the story of

Isaac proper is really chapter 24. God is the god of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but those three

figures don't get equal time in the narrative of Genesis. Isaac gets much less than the other two.

And Joseph actually gets more than either of them later on.

So the story of Isaac proper.

Now, Isaac is still around.

He's Jacob and Esau's father,

so he's still part of the early part of that story.

But sort of his story and his life, we just get really this one narrative chapter.
