Okay, so we'll go ahead and get started. When we get started,

we're going to be picking up in Genesis chapter 12, verse 2 last week in an hour and 20 minutes

plus we covered verse 1. So I will recap that much more quickly now.

That's kind of a misnomer because we also had our introduction to Abraham and to his time and the civilization where he lived and everything.

So that was the first half and then the second half was first one.

So in addition to that introduction,

we find himself with Abraham.

He's living in Ure, the largest city in the world,

most powerful city in the world,

most cultured city in the world during the Sumerian Renaissance.

It's called the Uir 3 period because Ur was also politically

and economically dominant

during that period over the known world.

And God appeared to him in person.

This is where we spent the time last week and then told him to leave, to gather up his things, his family, his household, his servants,

everything, and leave or and go to the land that God would show him, meaning he didn't even

tell him where he was going.

God just said, go, and I'll tell you when you're there.

Start walking.

This is a journey that's going to take years.
