| 0:00.0 | Welcome to another edition of Gear Review. And today we're going to be reviewing another item from Geiger Rig from Geiger Rig.com. That's GE, GE, R-R-I-G, Geiger Rig.com. Scott, you're talking about the hydration packs and all of those items that Gagarrig has created and put on to the trail market. Correct. And one of the unique things about their hydration packages is that it's pressurized. You pressurize the bladder with a little hand pump like a jet pack, kind but you so you pressurize it with this little hand pump and then you spray it so you don't have to suck So so basically gagger rigs don't suck but they're first foyer is that the right word foyer? I don't even know what a foyer is. Their first venture into trail running was a few years ago, and it wasn't really a runner-friendly pack. It was more of like backpacking and stuff like that. It didn't kind of backstreet. It bounced around a lot, and they have now come up with a new model called the Geiger Rig, the Rig Cadenz. Rig Cadenz, I like the way that sounds. And I have it right here. Can you see this, Don? Looking good. The Rig Cadence looks more like a vest. And if you look at the front, one of the nice things about this that they've improved on is they have lots of pockets in front for stuff. So for gels and for your phone and for your garbage, garbage, if you're picking up, trail garbage. And then it also has room for a 50 ounce hydration bladder in the back. It is not super light. That's probably one of the downsides. It does weigh one point, almost 1.2 pounds. So it's not on your ultra light list of gear. Well, you know, in defense of the, of the poundage that you're talking about, it's got 1.2 isn't a lot, and there's a lot of pack there, and there's a lot of pockets and things, so that might be a good trade-off for you. Right, so, and it does have, it has two adjustable straps in front to hold it on. The thing that I liked about it that was much, much better over the last pack was it's |
| 2:29.3 | not about... two adjustable straps in front to hold it on. The thing that I liked about it that was much, much better over the last pack was, it's not a backpack. The other one was kind of like a backpack with a pack on your back and straps on the front. This is more of a vest type bladder or hydration vest. So it actually works really well. It is very snug. So it does not bounce around and it's comfortable. So pros, it's very comfortable. It wears well. It doesn't bounce around. On the downside, I think it's just a little bit heavy. 18 ounces. God. 18 ounces is heavy for you. I did a little math there, right? 16 ounces to a pound. |
| 3:05.2 | I just want to throw that out there. |
| 3:06.5 | Okay, that's good, good math. And it isn't real well ventilated. The back is completely enclosed. And so it may not be the pack that you want to wear on a really, really hot day. All right, fair enough. I'll tell you, I'm a fan of the Geiger Rig hydration system because it's kind of nice to be able to spray your face, you know, and |
| 3:28.2 | with a handheld water bottle you can do that. I'll tell you I'm a fan of the Geiger Rig hydration system because it's kind of nice to be able to spray your face |
| 3:26.5 | Mm-hmm, you know and with a handheld water bottle you can do that you can spray your face with water With a hydration pack you can't do that unless you have a friend giving you a hug But with this all you can do is you can pump it up and just spray your face or wash down your your legs or something like that so So again, I think that they're making strides over at Geiger Rig and this is one step closer |
| 3:49.0 | to... down your legs or something like that. So again, I think that they're making strides over at Geiger Rig and this is one step closer to the perfect hydration vest if there is such a thing. Well, the perfect one is the one your friend wears and you just go ahead and take a you borrow. You take a hit off. You don't have to buy. You take a hit off that tube anytime you're getting a little thirsty. Right. So I would give it what is our scale today? We're going to use the Coca-Cola and we're going to use 18, one for every ounce. I would say this is a solid 13. All right. Well, that's doable. So go out to guygerrig.com and check out the vest and see the cadence. Well, whoa, it's got great review, but what's this thing cost? Oh, I forgot to say, the manufacturer's list price is $145. All right, very good. So go out and grab yourself some cadence, drink some fluids, and check them out at gagarray.com |
