A Christmas morning attack on Ukraine by Russia killed one person and left half a million households without heating,

as temperatures drop to 37 degrees Fahrenheit.

Explosions were reported across the country targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

CNN's Nada Bashir says President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed the deadly attack.

Zeletskyy said President Putin chose to carry out the attack on Christmas Day, describing

Russia's actions as inhumane.

Ukraine's largest private energy company said this marks the 13th time this year that

Russia has carried out a major attack on Ukraine's energy sector, leaving the country in a precarious

position as the war grinds into a third winter.

And it comes as Ukraine is bracing for what 2025 and Donald Trump will bring,

as the president-elect has said aid for the country could dry up, but that he's going to broker a peace deal.

A Gaza news outlet says Israeli forces have killed five of its journalists in an overnight

strike.

The Al-Adwa hospital says an Al-Quds today television vehicle was parked outside when it was

hit, with other journalists on the scene, saying the reporters were all sleeping in their

vehicle when it happened.

Footage of the aftermath seen by CNN shows the vehicle in flames,

with the words TV and press in large letters on the back doors. The channel is affiliated

with the Palestine-Islamic Jihad militant group and said the five reporters were killed, quote,

while performing their journalistic and humanitarian duty.

The Israeli military confirmed that it carried out the strike on what it said was a, quote,

...
