August 21st.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to approve plans for the attack on Gaza City at a meeting this afternoon.

That's according to two Israeli officials and comes after Netanyahu told the military yesterday to have a shorter timeline for the takeover of the

city. The original plan was about five months. There are warnings that Israel's plan will

only make the humanitarian crisis worse, as CNN's Paula Hancock explains.

The military has said that they have already taken much of the outskirts, that they are

in the preliminary stages

of this operation. And the calls from the United Nations are saying that to move hundreds of

thousands of people, potentially up to a million, into an area that is already overcrowded

and does not have the infrastructure to sustain human life will be devastating.

They've pointed out that some 86% of the Gaza Strip is already under Israeli evacuation orders

or in Israeli militarized zones.

And so more and more people are being squeezed into an ever-shinking area, which will exacerbate a desperate situation.
