Hello everybody welcome back to another episode of the Gadgetro Criminalists today, Gary Ridgeway, written by Kevin Jennings.

This is a big one, Gary Ridgeway. He's like one of those serial killers, really, I've heard of him.

He's bad. Let's just jump into a showy, if you're new here welcome to the show, the format of the

Gadgetro Criminalists is that I've never read this before, Kevin has written it for me, and we're going

to explore it together dear audience, let's jump in, shall we?

There's a certain perception people have when it comes to serial killers. Though they come

in different forms, there's usually that one trait you can point out as how they were successful

in their crime. Some considered charming and handsome, like Ted Bundy, which made it easier for him

to lure his victims. Others have the ability to cover their tracks, like the Golden State Killer,

a law enforcement officer who was even tasked with investigating some of his own crimes, some killers,

are just straight up geniuses like Leopold and Loeb. No, they weren't. We made a video about this.

This, and I guess Kevin did write that video because it's like the genius killers of Leopold

and Loeb, we're not geniuses, it's just this kind of urban myth that they were smart, they were

really not smart. They got caught very quickly and their crimes were dumb, like it was really dumb.

I wish people would stop calling Leopold and Loeb geniuses because they weren't.

And other serial killers simply looked terrifying or evil, exactly what you'd expect from a psychopathic

serial, a psychopathic killer. It's got to be really bad if you look like a psychopath,

like if you look like a murderer, right people are, that dude's scary, he's super nice,

he just looks like a murderer. But Gary Ridgeway was none of those things, families of the victims

saw him in court and some described him afterwards as being a pathetic worm. They felt he was more

mouse than man, and were disappointed that this was the person that had eluded beliefs for so long,

he wasn't charming our intelligence and he wasn't muscular with tattoos that said I love to kill.
