You know, planning is like a roadmap.

It gives you detailed steps instead of just, you know, wishing for things next year. No, you have a

route to take, a personalized plan to follow. You know, they say a goal without a plan is just a wish.

So I thought it would be fun to share my personal checklist that I use and it's actually the core

values of our ministry. I call it the G5. Oh, and before I go through this checklist,

I want to ask you for a favor.

it. Okay, the G5. So number one is God. What I mean by this is practice hearing God's voice.

You know, I used to think that if God ever speaks to me, he'll probably say something like,

I will smite thee with my nostrils. I found out. That's not God. That's Jim Carrey from Bruce

Almighty. But God is the one who said, my sheep hear my voice. So my dad always taught me to take

two things into my prayer time with him. I don't think I have two things here, but I have a journal

and a pen. In other words, practice hearing God's voice.

I had no idea that successful people keep a journal.

You know, Jim Rhone said, a life worth living is a life worth recording.
