Former Congressman Matt Gates continues to deny the findings of a House ethics report.

It was released yesterday and found evidence that Gates paid women tens of thousands of dollars for drugs and sex, including paying a 17-year-old girl for sex in 2017.

Gates criticized the report's release, saying on social media,

quote,

They did this to me in a Christmas Eve Eve report and not in a courtroom of any kind where I could present evidence and challenge witnesses.

As CNN's Caitlin Polance tells us, prosecutors had earlier investigated these allegations.

They looked at the possibility of federal sex trafficking violations and found no, he would not be charged with any crime.

So Gates has never been charged with anything, and he continues to deny these allegations

that the House is putting out there against him. One of the things he tried to do was bury

the report on Monday by running to the court system. That lawsuit fell flat very quickly, and he just is saying publicly that he believes his reputation is very likely to be harmed by this.
