I am a writer, comedian and filmmaker, and this week we are book clubbing Gabrielle

Union's memoir written in 2017 titled We're Gonna Need More Wine.

This is one of my favorite memoirs and after reading it, I bought a bunch of extra copies

to give to just young women in my life, maybe just a woman I cross the street with.

I might be like, you need this because everyone needs this book.

It will invigorate you and it will teach you things like how to get through a breakup,

how to get over a cheater, and she even tells you how to become a cheater.

It's a good book.

I used to shrink in the presence of other dope, beautiful women.

I used to revel in gossip and rumors and I lived for the negativity inflicted upon my

sister actresses or anyone who I felt who shine diminished my own.

I took joy in people's pain and I tapped dance on their misery.

I chased and accepted a love and a marriage that wasn't worthy of a date.

I lived here, hey, if we'll go black, it'll totally be you.

That was Gabrielle Union's speech when accepting the fierce and fearless award from Essence

magazine.
