Hello there.

0:06.2

I'm Chuck Todd.

0:07.2

Welcome to another episode of the Chuck Todd cast.

0:09.7

My solo guest today is Congressman Chris Deluzio from one of the swingiest districts over the last 10 years, Pennsylvania 17.

0:18.7

It's a little less swinging now after redrawing on the maps in 2021 for the

0:23.9

2022 election. But he's replaced Connor Lamb, who was sort of seen as symbolically in the last

0:29.6

decade as, you know, as Democrats were looking to see if they could make inroads into parts of

0:34.2

Trump country, that special election for Pennsylvania 17 was sort of a canary in

0:39.5

the coal mine for the 2018 midterms. So checking in with a swing state member of Congress, I

0:46.2

think is worthwhile. He's part of Western Pennsylvania. We have an interesting conversation about

0:51.3

where the party should go, where John Fetterman is at politically, how we deal with some of the crucial issues that are rising up.

0:59.8

And he sort of puts a little bit of a pin into, hey, pay attention to an issue that we're not talking about enough, but is rising in

1:11.0

importance with his constituents, the electric bill.

1:16.6

And you're starting to see this percolate in a lot of places.

1:21.2

The drain on our grids, the strain, if you will, on our grids with AI-powered, AI-related data centers,

1:32.1

the demand for more power. We've had a lot of tumult, you know, the extreme climates,

1:40.0

you know, where we're using now the heat more often in the south, in the winter, the AC,

1:46.5

more often in the north, in the summer. All of that is contributing to an issue there. So I do

1:53.3

think the interview itself is worthwhile for a variety of reasons, but I'm always happy to talk

1:58.0

to these members of Congress because I always want to find out, hey, there's issues we talk about here in the main, in the press corps. There's issues members of Congress in Washington talk about. But what's being brought up that isn't being talked about in Washington, and that was an issue. He highlighted. So I just wanted to flag that because it actually gets to a larger part of what I want to get to today.

2:19.2

By the way, I'll have my top five list.

2:21.1

That'll happen after the interview.
