Hello and welcome to Recipe Club where we debate the best way to cook the things you want

to eat.

My name is Chris Yeing and today we are making French fries at home for some reason.

Despite its name, the origins of the French fry is a matter of some dispute.

France of course, and Belgium and the good old US of A all lay some claim to the invention

of the French fry in the early 19th century.

But who cares?

Here's my question.

What the hell took so long?

Fried sticks of potato seem like the most obvious thing in the world, but I guess someone

had to invent the wheel at some point too.

Anywho, in the 200 or so years since the French fries creation, we humans have had ample

opportunities to perfect them, tinkering and improving and exploring the potato arts.

And if you're somebody who doesn't think there's that much that goes into making a great

French fry, then well, you're dead wrong.
