Green beans are beans.

They're not a different vegetable that just happens to share a name with beans.

They are the immature pods of regular old beans.

I guess if you'd asked me what a green bean was before today, I probably would have come

up with the right answer, but I hadn't ever really thought about this until just now.

When you go to the store and you buy green beans or Romano beans or even snap peas, which

are peas.

You take them home and you've cooked them and they were stringy or tough.
