With the career spanning back to the days of Michael Jackson and Fred Eckhart, a Portland pioneer has altered the landscape of strong ails in America and no one else.

The path to changing fermentation as we know it was a winding one, going from a bicycle repairman to a beach rental agent in Hawaii, a stained glass artist before he landed his first chef job, where eventually he found his passion

for food and more importantly, beer. In the late 80s, this innovative maltmaster cut his canines

at Widmer and started the iconic hair of the dog in 1993, going on to brew Adam, then Eve, Fred,

Matt, and one of the most iconic and valuable beers of all time, Dave.
