When I first started doing sales training in person, I was always kind of astonished that people

0:06.8

didn't find it that enlightening at first. But then one of the managers says, well what you're

0:15.4

doing is showing how the magic trick works versus showing the magic trick first. And I go,

0:24.3

yeah, but it's hard to show the magic trick in that context. And that moment stuck with me

0:33.3

for quite a while. So I keep trying to show the magic trick or at least give the context of it

0:41.5

before you show how the trick works. Because if you show how the trick works without having that

0:49.5

suspense and mystery upfront, people just say, oh yeah, I knew that. Yeah, that's logical.

0:58.4

And I watch this on CuriosityStream. It's one of those streaming services. I tried it out. I love

1:07.0

history and mystery and factual TV. So you don't feel as guilty watching TV compared to watching

1:51.0

analogy is more effective than the typical performance analogy that I give. Because a lot of people

1:58.3

hear that and they think, oh, sing in and dance. And no, no, no, it's how well you sell. And although

2:06.8

selling isn't a trick, and I hate that word, because it assumes that if you learn a trick,

2:12.8

then all of a sudden sales become simple. I don't think it ever becomes simple. I think you start

2:21.1

to learn more and more about it. And the more you learn about it, the more you learn that you have

2:27.2

to learn even more about it. But it becomes enticing because you do become better at it. And in

2:36.7

this little show that they had about the magic trick, it seems like a really great card trick with

2:45.2

this person's able to read or guess the card that the other person had picked. And it's basically

2:53.2

using a little diversion, a little humor. But isn't that all interpersonal connections? Is that
