Well, I am really excited to talk to our guest today. Steve Liff is joining us on the phone.

And Steve has a great story. Basically, corporate America tried to push him around and he said he

wasn't taking it and he dove headfirst into real

estate investing. And he owns 11 rentals today, and he lives off his rental income. And Steve,

I am really interested to hear your story. So why don't you take us back and tell us exactly

how you got started owning rental properties? Sure. Well, I'm not sure how far back

you want to go, but I guess I'll start with right after college. I finished college and I finished

grad school and I ended up working in Washington, D.C. for the Commerce Department during and after

graduate school for about a year.

And as most young guys out of college, you want to try different things. You don't necessarily

find your true calling, as it were, right away. So that sort of morphed into doing political

advertising, which morphed again into the ad agency business.

And so all of a sudden five years had gone by, and I was, I think, 27 years old, and I was

living in San Francisco. And it was actually the month of the big earthquake. And I had a job

opportunity to move to Salt Lake City to work for an out agency out here, which is where we still live.

And I jumped on it mainly because I was at that point in my life where I was in my late 20s,

I was living in a city that was way too expensive and is even worse now.
